How Many Hair Bundles Do I Need?
The answer depends on several factors, including the length, texture, desired volume, and whether you're using a closure or frontal.
Choosing the correct number of bundles is important to achieve a full, balanced look without unnecessary bulk or extra cost.
Hair Length
As hair gets longer, the wefts become shorter because the same amount of hair is distributed across a greater length.
This means longer lengths often require more bundles to maintain fullness from root to tip.
Desired Fullness
Some clients prefer a natural everyday look, while others want maximum volume and glamour. The fuller the style, the more hair bundles you will need.

Sew-In
- 10"to 14": 2 bundles
- 16" to 20": 2 to 3 bundles
- 22" and longer: 3 to 4 bundles
Closure Wig
A lace closure (like a 4x4 or 5x5) covers a small square portion at the top/front of the head, meaning the bundles make up the rest of the unit.
- 10"to 14": 2 bundles + closure
- 16" to 20": 2 to 3 bundles + closure
- 22" and longer: 3 to 4 bundles + closure
Frontal Wig
A lace frontal runs ear-to-ear, covering the entire front hairline. Because the frontal takes up more space than a closure, you generally need fewer bundles.
- 10"to 16": 2 bundles + frontal
- 18" to 22": 2 to 3 bundles + frontal
- 24" and longer: 3 bundles + frontal
Please note that these are general guidelines. The ideal number of bundles may vary depending on the hair texture, density, styling preferences, and desired finished look.
